We Dream of Eden – Songs for Storms

Press release
Songs for Storms is the new EP from eminent ambient artist We Dream of Eden (Kirk Smith).
Following on from his full-length album Deeper Still, this new release is an exploration of anticipation and powerlessness in the face of an impending storm. Alongside this slightly dark atmosphere, Smith shares that “there is also that peaceful feeling of life after the rain; the earth is clean and well watered and the streets glisten.”
The juxtaposition of feelings and sounds was key to the composition of the music, with modulated synths creating an electronic feel contrasting against field recordings of rain, and an old out of tune upright piano that provided the centrepiece to much of the EP.
The music of We Dream of Eden has been described as “a place to think, a place to breathe, a place to dream” (Rural Sounds) and has been featured on a wide variety of Spotify editorial playlists, including Stress Relief and Lava Lamp.
“Storms will come. Storms will pass. But we can stop and breathe and look the storm in the eye and be grateful for the life we have. I want these songs to be reminders of that. To recognise the ominous feelings storms can bring but embrace gratitude.”

Songs for Storms will be released on 24th September on Echoes Blue Music (Salt of the Sound, Dear Gravity, Be Still the Earth)
